Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He entered the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. In addition to his part in The Killing's drama series as well as his appearance in Borgen III, a Danish drama series. He played Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, in a scene on BBC drama Sherlock. In the American television show House of Cards, he played the president of Russia. He received an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his performance in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This series was broadcast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019. He claimed that his brother and he first learned English by listening to and studying the Monty Python songs.
